Call of Duty: Vietnam announced
Setting their sights halfway between World War II and, uh... the Modern War... Activision today confirmed the rumours for the setting of the 7th game in the Call of Duty series: Vietnam (the title of the game, however, is yet to be confirmed).
In keeping with tradition, the developers of the odd-numbered-year's release will be Call of Duty 3 and Call of Duty: World at War helmers Treyarch, and currently pencilled in for a November 2010 release. Pencilled sure, but pressed down quite hard. Left an imprint on the paper. The sort of pencilling that you'd struggle to erase completely.
Actvision announced that the game will be set during the late '60s Vietnam War, taking particular influence from films like Apocalypse Now and Platoon, adding, "Activision believes that it can own Christmas 2010, just as it has in the last two years."
Personally, I'm very glad for a change in direction, World War II-set games have been done time and time again to near perfection, so I am definitely ready to embrace this change and the bold decision to cover ground so immaculately represented in the world of cinema, but scarcely seen in our world of gaming. Two thumbs up, Treyarch!
